William Bessler is running to represent District 4 on the McLean County Board.
Vote on or before November 3, 2026
William grew up the son of a union groundskeeper and union grocery worker. His understanding of the issues working folks face every day started in the two bedroom, one bathroom apartment he lived in during his formative years.
After graduating from Bradley University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master of Business Administration, William began working for a small non-profit in Peoria’s southside where he was a housing counselor and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site coordinator. He then worked as a public benefits caseworker for the Illinois Department of Human Services before working in local government.
Throughout his career, William continued to stay engaged in politics and the community — working to support former Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, Governor JB Pritzker, and the McLean County Democrats. William was an architect of the 2024 strategy that won Democrats control of the McLean County Board for the first time in history.
